March's Relief Society Birthday Dinner

In March the Relief Society celebrated it's 170th birthday and we had a Birthday Dinner on March 8th to celebrate.  Our theme was A Journey Through Oz.  We had a yellow brick road and various rainbow decor throughout the cultural hall to symbolize "Somewhere over the Rainbow".  We had a picture of our Savior displayed with the words, "There's No Place Like Home".  That sentiment couldn't be more true.  After all is said and done, each of us ultimately hopes to someday return home to live with our Father in Heaven and enjoy His tender mercies.

Some of our amazing young men and women sacrificed their time to come and serve our sisters dinner. We appreciated their service to us so very much!!!   Our menu included sprite with rainbow colored ice cubes (made from kool-aid), pulled pork, rolls, strawberry salad with a red wine vinaigrette, fresh fruit and cake pops for dessert.  It was delicious!!!  A big thank you to all the sisters who helped with the salads and the rolls!

Throughout the course of our meal we had 3 amazing sisters give talks.   Heather Klepko, Sarah Cline and Ernestine Hayes all spoke.   Heather spoke on knowledge in scripture study (the Scarecrow), Sarah spoke on the heart of Relief Society ( the Tin Man) and Ernestine spoke on courage in visiting teaching and missionary work ( the Lion).  They truly helped us to bring the Spirit to our evening and we really appreciated their willingness to speak!  We had approximately 60+ sisters in attendance and a lot of fun was had by all!  It was definitely a night to remember!
